MBBS, BDS admission policy announced

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), a regulator of medical education in Pakistan, has announced admission policy of MBBS and BDS admission for 2020-2021. An official hand out issued by PMDC on Tuesday said all medical institutions across Pakistan and AJK will conduct MDCAT/ entry tests between September 19 and October 25 this year while adhering to Corona SoPs. This will be followed by announcement of admission entry tests’ results and enrolment of the students . The weightage formula for admission in MBBS and BDS will remain unchanged i e MDCAT/ entry tests 50 %, HSSC/ A level/ FSC 40 % and matric/ SSC/O level 10 %. The MDCAT/ entry tests will have 200 MCQs and the candidates will solve these MCQs in 2 hours and 30 minutes. The marks allocation for the subjects will be ; Biology 80, Chemistry 60, Physics 40 and English 20. Those students who got minimum 65 percent marks in FSC pre medical or equivalent will be eligible for appearing in MDCAT/ entry tests for 2020-2021 and those who will secure minimum 33 % marks in entry tests will be eligible to apply for MBBS/ BDS admissions. PMDC Registrar , Dr Brig (Retired), Hafizuddin Siddiqi, said on Tuesday the admission policy for MBBS and BDS has been revised to facilitate the students and ensure admission in medical universities/ colleges on merit. He maintained that all medical institutions have been advised to complete admission process well in time.
