Islamabad : Amidst growing concerns of Tehran over Israel’s continued deadly airstrikes on Lebanon soon after the ceasefire in the Middle East (ME), the White House has announced that vice president , JD Vance , is going to Islamabad to head US team for talks with Iran scheduled for April 10 to workout a plan for long-term peace in the region.
The White House spokesperson told media persons Wednesday that president , Donald Trump, has assigned the task to vice president , JD Vance , to lead US team for talks with Iran in Islamabad on the ME conflict.
Iran is yet to announce it’s team for Islamabad talks.
US and Iran had agreed to a 2-week ceasefire in the Middle East ( ME) on Tuesday. Following the ceasefire announcement, the US and Iran had agreed to have negotiations in Islamabad for a complete end to the conflict on the basis of a 10-point plan.
Pakistan has welcomed the ceasefire of the war and thanked both parties –Iran and US– to the conflict for accepting its proposal for the ceasefire.
Prime Minister , Shahbaz Sharif, in his statement said he was extremely happy to announce that US and Iran have agreed to a 2-week ceasefire to bring an end to the ME war and hold negotiations in Islamabad for a complete and long term solution to the conflict from April 10 .
Islamabad is making every possible effort to make sure that the planned talks between Iran and US on ME conflict go uninterrupted and bring a positive outcome , but Israel’s relentless air attacks on Lebanon have created a dangerous situation for it. Iran can not allow Israel to keep bombing Lebanon to hunt Hizbullah , one of his key support for resistanting Israel’s expansion plan in Gaza and beyond and have talks with US for peace in ME . Its reaction to Israeli deadly airstrikes on Lebanon on Wednesday and killing hundreds of Lebanon nationals , besides injuring hundreds of others shows level of anger over this development. Iran has already announced to punish Israel for its new deadly airstrikes on Lebanon .
In the goven situation , there is a possibility that Israel may succeed in derailing US – Iran talks to be held in Islamabad from April 10.
Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , has taken serious notice of Israeli new airstrikes on Lebanon and urged upon the parties to the dispute to honour the agreed ceasefire.
