Mini budget coming today to make people lives worse

Govt ready to meet IMF conditionalities

ISLAMABAD: Finally, the government is going to present mini budget in the national assembly on December 30, 2021 (today).
The mini budget will be presented in the national assembly after the approval of the federal cabinet whose special meeting is scheduled for Thursday. The cabinet will consider the mini budget in the morning and with its approval it will be laid before the national assembly in the afrernoon the same day.
The amended finance bill 2021 would be called as mini budget and its approval will empower the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government to withdraw exemptions amounting to over Rs 360 billion, besides cutting down development budget by Rs 200 billion. Withdrawal of exemptions of Rs 360 billion in one go will open- up a new floodgate of price-hike. It would make the people lives more difficult in coming days. It will add up levy up to Rs 30 per litre petroleum levy in the remaining months of the current fiscal year. The bill also proposes ban on import of luxury cars. Cutting down of development budget will slow down pace of growth of the country and add to unemployment in the country. The government will also present bill in the assembly to give absolute autonomy to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The opposition has announced to resist the government move and defeat the bill for mini budget and grant of autonomy to the SBP. Khawaja Asif , Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader on Thursday called the government move to grant autonomy to SBP as surrendering the country’s financial independence and demanded of the government to give- up its plan.
