ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday declared by- poll of February 19 2021 of NA -75 Daska null and void and ordered for re-election in the constitiency on March 18, 2021.
ECP declared February 19 election in the constituency null and void after hearing petitions filed by the candidates of Pakistan Tehreek÷e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML-N.
Both Ali Asjad Malhi of PTI and Naushin Iftikhar of PMLN were leading candidates in February 19, 2021 election in the constitiency.
The last election in the constituency was marred by violence and gross irrigularities.
The commission had conducted hearing into the petitions filed by the aggrieved candidates on day- to -day basis.It had found serious irrigularties in voting as well as in counting process.
The issue of.mysterious missimg.of 20 presiding officers also irked the commission , which after hearing the arguments of the both parties decided to declare February 19 election of the constituency null and void and go for re -take in the constituency.
Re-take is a real test of PMLN as its leadership had demanded fresh and free , fair election in the constituency.
Its also equally important for ECP to make foolproof arrangements this time to comduct election in the constituency without any fear and threat.
