ISLAMABAD : The final phase of no confidence filed against prime minister , Imran Khan, has begun with endorsement of the motion by 161 members of the national assembly here on Monday.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) president and opposition leader in the national assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, presented the no confidence motion under article 95 of the constitution . Deputy speaker , Qasim Soori, presided over the session of the lower house on Monday.
The deputy speaker announced adjournment of the session for March 31, 2022. The national assembly will meet again on March 31 at 5 PM to take up debate on the no confidence motion . Both the government and opposition are hopeful of winning in voting on no confidence motion .
All the stakeholders are using every possible option to win the political game over no confidence motion. To keep its hopes alive to stay in power the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government on Monday offered the chief minister Punjab office to Pakistan Muslim League (Q) to clinch its support to foil no confidence motion in the national assembly. Meanwhile, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) gave its decision in favour of the opposition for no confidence motion. Its one member national assembly, and federal minister. Zubeda Jalal , defied the party decision of joining the opposition to support its no confidence. She remained absent from the press conference wherein BAP announced its support to the opposition over no confidence motion . Pakistan Muslim League (Q) is also facing differences on the question of supporting the government on no confidence for the office of chief minister Punjab.
Its big name and stalwart , Tariq Bashir Cheema , strongly reacted to his party decision of supporting the government for the office of chief minister Punjab and announced to give vote against the prime minister in the national assembly.
