ISLAMABAD ; In a last minute move of resignation of speaker , Asad Qaiser , and deputy speaker , Qasim Suri, to avert the contempt proceedings against them , national assembly took up agenda for voting on no confidence motion against Imran Khan at 11.47 PM, just 13 minutes ahead of expiry of the deadline set by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) to decide political fate of Imran Khan and his party …Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).
According to the presiding officer, 174
members of the national assembly voted in favour of no confidence motion, stamping end of Imran Khan rule in Pakistan . Ayaz Sadiq announced the result of the voting . Imran Khan had become prime minister after winning the general elections in 2018. The dissidents of PTI did not take part in voting against Imran Khan, probably to avoid any action against them for disqualification as member national assembly.
With out numbered through no confidence, Imran Khan became the first prime minister of Pakistan who lost the office through no confidence .
After resignation , Asad Qaiser presented the office of the speaker to panel chairman , Ayaz Sadiq .Ayaz Sadiq, immediately after taking the office of the speaker , presented the motion for voting in the house.
As per rules of the business of house, Ayaz Sadiq read out the procedure for the members of the national assembly . This was followed by ringing of the bells for minutes to allow any member who could be out of the hall of the assembly to come in and vote on no confidence motion. Soon after the resignation of speaker, Asad Qaiser , all PTI members left the house .
The presiding officer ordered to close the doors of the hall to commence the voting on the motion . This was followed by a ruling of the speaker asking the members who were in favour of the motion to go in a lobby on his left side . This was followed by cast of votes on the motion. This brought day long political drama to an end.
After defeating Imran Khan through voting on no confidence , Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) president and opposition leader addressed to the assembly. He termed success of no confidence as a dawn of new beginning for Pakistan.
He thanked opposition parties leadership for making no confidence against Imran Khan a success. He, in particular , thanked Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir .
Pakistan People Party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto, in his address said on the day of April 10, 2022, I welcome the nation back to old Pakistan. He also congratulated the nation for putting end to horrifying rule of PTI. Assad Mahmood in his address said the new government no to go waste it’s struggle . He added that today’s success of no confidence brought unconstitutional rule of PTI that commenced in 2018. Khalid Maqbool of Mutihida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said democracy only way to make Pakistan a real Pakistan . He hoped that the new government will uphold its promises to make Pakistan a safe country for our future generations . Khalid Hussain Maghsi of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) in his address said his party played a role of BAP. He hoped Shahbaz Sharif will use his experience to serve Pakistan and its people.
Akhtar Mangal also address to the national assembly. He said today’s success was due to hard work of our political workers. He said the constitution was supreme which keep the country united. He said the way the outgoing rulers distorted the face of the constitution was painful and unfortunate . He said the past rulers celebrated abrogation of the.constitution.
Ali Wazir in his address said today a hybrid government came to an end . He urged upon the upcoming government to formulate a policy to address issues confronted with Pakistan .
