NAB Files Plea to Transfer Toshakhana Case Involving Zardari, Sharif, and Gillani to Special Court

It involves illegally acquiring 3 luxury vehicles – a 2004 BMW 750 Li, a 2007 Toyota Lexus Jeep, and a 2008 BMW 760 Li.

ISLAMABAD, November 7, 2027 – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday filed an application before the Accountability Court, seeking the transfer of the Toshakhana reference involving former President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Yousaf Raza Gillani, and others to the Special Judge Central Court.

The application was submitted to Accountability Court Judge Abida Sajjad.

In its plea, NAB argued that the value of the assets involved in the case – Rs 80.5 million – is below the Rs 500 million threshold, making it eligible for transfer to the concerned court in accordance with the amended NAB laws.

The reference, which was initially filed by NAB, accuses the accused of illegally acquiring three luxury vehicles – a 2004 BMW 750 Li, a 2007 Toyota Lexus Jeep, and a 2008 BMW 760 Li.

These vehicles were allegedly gifted to Pakistan by the embassies of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Libya and were deposited in the Toshakhana, an official government repository for gifts from foreign dignitaries.

NAB alleges that the accused violated rules governing the handling of these gifts by acquiring them for personal use.

The application is now under review, with the Accountability Court expected to make a decision regarding the transfer of the case to the Special Court.
