Naqvi, Pintèr Agree to Enhance Bilateral Relations with Focus on Immigration, Trade,  Security

ISLAMABAD, November 14, 2024: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi held a productive meeting with Hungarian Minister of Interior Sàndor Pintèr in Budapest, where both sides discussed a range of issues aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government for the warm hospitality and impeccable arrangements for the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Budapest Process.

The ministers agreed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Hungary in 2025, with special events planned to mark the milestone.

In a significant diplomatic gesture, Naqvi, on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, extended an invitation to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to visit Pakistan next year.

In return, Minister Pintèr accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan to further strengthen bilateral ties.

A key focus of the talks was addressing illegal immigration and human trafficking.

Minister Naqvi proposed that a high-level Hungarian delegation visit Pakistan to assist in curbing illegal immigration and promoting legal migration.

The delegation will also provide technical support in areas such as human trafficking and cooperation with Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on the Citizen Registration Management System (CRMS).

Both ministers agreed to establish a direct hotline between their respective ministries to better coordinate efforts on immigration-related issues and expedite resolution of related matters.

Additionally, the Hungarian Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Pakistan in December 2024. Minister Naqvi welcomed this visit, emphasizing the importance of continued diplomatic exchanges to further enhance relations between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Hungary, Asif Hussain Memon, and senior diplomatic officials were also present during the meeting.

Minister Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Hungary, highlighting the importance of mutual cooperation and regular exchanges to foster long-term bilateral relations.
