The main task for Brigadier (Retd) Masaddiq Abassi as advisor to the prime minister would be to focus on the under- trial cases of Sharifs, in particular, of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) president and opposition leader in the national assembly, Shahbaz Sharif and his son and opposition leader in Punjab assembly , Hamza Sharif , and to get them disqualified from the court.
Prime minister , Imran Khan discussed with his political aides on appointment of Brig (R) Masaddiq Abbasi as his advisor on Interior and Accountability.

Since , Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have already been disqualified in assets beyond means case, the ruling party takes Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz as last hurdle in making the national politics free of Sharifs.
“The prime target of new advisor on Interior and Accountability would be to get disqualified the remaining two Sharifs from the accountability court and end the role of Sharif family from Pakistan’s politics”, a senior official said in an informal talk with this correspondent.
The PTI leadership was convinced that NAB has enough evidence to prove the corruption against Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shabaz but sacked Shahzad Akbar tried to shield these PMLN leaders as his close contacts were against any such development and the same resulted in his unc-eremonial departure as advisor to the prime minister. .
