LAHORE : July 18, 2022. The government has rejected Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) demand of early elections and decided here on Monday that the next general elections will be held in 2023 .
After having landslide victory in by-elections in Punjab , PTI chairman is demanding fresh elections in the country.
After a high level meeting of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) here , Interior minister, Rana Sanaullah , told a press conference along with Information minister, Maryam Aurangzeb, that the government will not accept any pressure what so ever of PTI chairman , Imran Khan, and hold general elections in the country as per original schedule. Rana Sanaullah said ‘Imran Khan is a mad man and his allegations against PMLN leaders and chief election commissioner (CEC) were unfounded and uncalled for”. He said Imran Khan intends to blackmail the state institutions to complete his hidden agenda .
He said Imran Khan is hurling allegations on CEC to preempt possible
disqualification of PTI in foreign funding case .
Rana Sanaullah lauded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding free and fair by-polls in Punjab.
In response to a question, Rana Sanaullah said the government is on its programme to try Imran Khan and all those PTI leaders under article 6 of the constitution who, according to the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) judgment, had a role in unconstitutional act of over throwing no confidence motion filed against Imran Khan.
Rana Sanaullah urged upon the people to understand hidden anti Pakistan agenda of Imran Khan and reject it to protect Pakistan from this mad man (Imran Khan).
Rana Sanaullah claimed that Punjab is of Nawaz Sharif and it will remain of Nawaz Sharif .
He claimed that PMLN will perform in next elections aggressively and win the next general elections..
He said we are political people and respect norms and respect others .
He said the decision on time frame for the next elections will be decided by the leadership of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
He said PMLN had a narrative of giving respect to vote to stop meddling of undemocratic forces in the elections .
Rana Sanaullah claimed that July 17 by-elections in Punjab was actually a win of the PMLN which has held the most transparent , free and fair elections on 20 seats of Punjab assembly.
In a separate development , PMLN senior leader , Shahid Khan Abbasi told a TV anchor that the government will complete term of the existing assemblies and hold fair and free elections in the country in 2023.
He said Imran Khan had damaged Pakistan beyond repair in his 4 years rule and PMLN took various tough decisions to save Pakistan from becoming another Sri Lanka .
