ISLAMABAD: The National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) has issued orders for arrest of Arif Usmani, president/ chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for committing contempt of the commission by disobeying its orders dated August 2, 2021 in Jamshaid Masih case. The commission in its orders dated August 2, last had directed to Arif Usmani, president/CEO of NBP , to reinstate an employee.. Jamshaid Masih ..to his job.
Jamshaid Masih was a sweeper working in NBP as a worker of an outsourced company and he was dismissed from job sometimes back. NBP has outsource many of its departments where human resources is needed in big number. The concept of outsourcing of human resource is a cheeky move on the part of the bank administration. In the case of outsourcing, bank does not take any responsibility except paying to the owners of the outsource company. This disgusting concept is also a source of money,-making for many executives of the bank who allegedly form a fake company in the name of their frontmen and then outsource employees contract to their own fake companies.
A source in NBP said ” Outsourcing is an ugly practice and also a violation of industrial laws as it does not protect the workers, but since its source of.money- making for many high ups of the bank its going on unabated”.
The aggrieved Jamshaid Masih knocked at NIRC door for justice, which ordered for his reinstatement. The bank did not obey NIRC orders and the poor chap Jamshaid Masih again filed a contempt plea before NIRC.
NIRC member heard the contempt plea and issued arrest warrant of the president/ CEO NBP.
The commission ordered the concerned authority to atrest Arif Usmani and produce him before the member on September 28, 2021.
Arif Usmani is behaving in the worst manners as president/CEO NBP. He is also indulged in massive wrongdoings like stuffing of huge handpicked persons without caring for any merit or rules and regulations of the bank. For his royal working style , NBP has suffered huge financial loss besides earning reputation of a most irresposible financial institution of Pakiatan. The case of unlawful hiring by Arif Usmani has already landed in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
In a related development, the Public Account Committee (PAC) has taken serious notice of Arif Usmani’s wrongdoings and summoned him on September 30, 2021 with audit report of 2019-20. The PAC is likey to question Arif Usmani for his unlawful hiring in the bank.
