Rawalpindi; An Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi has sentenced 47 leaders of Pakistan Tahreek e Insaf (PTI) for 10 years in jail and fined Rs 5.5 million in the May 9 GHQ attack case.
After the arrest of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan by NAB in alleged corruption cases on May 9, 2023, during the violent protests across the country, army installations were attacked, and other national and private properties were damaged.
The cases against those involved in the attack on GHQ were referred to the military courts. The court conducted a separate trial of 47 accused under Section 21L of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
In this regard, on November 18, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court imposed a travel ban on the accused named in the GHQ attack case, including Imran Khan, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Shahbaz Gul, Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, Zulfi Bukhari, and Sadaqat Abbasi, from traveling outside the country.
On completion of the trial , the court sentenced 47 accused including PTI chairman , Omar Ayub, Murad Saeed, and Zulfi Bukhari, Zartaj Gul and others
