Pak-US holds another talks round to enhance bilateral trade

US Secretary for Commerce hold virtual talks with Finance minister Mohammad Aurangzeb

Islamabad – June 25, 2025 . A virtual meeting took place between Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Finance Minister and Howard Lutnick, United States’ Commerce Secretary on US Reciprocal tariffs on June 24, 2025 , an official handout issued here by Finance Division said on Wednesday.

It added both sides showed satisfaction on the on-going negotiations and resolved to conclude the trade negotiations next week.* It was also resolved that further to the trade agreement, a partnership, based on strategic and investment interests, would be concluded in due course covering areas of mutual interest.

The discussion focused on meaningful engagement in trade, investment and deepening economic ties mutually beneficial to both sides with technical level trade related discussions to be concluded next week.

“Both sides expressed confidence in concluding trade negotiations at the earliest” the handout noted.

Pakistan and US are negotiating trade opportunities to bolster bilateral trade ties. US president , Donald Trump , is time and again hinting at promotion of trade with Pakistan.

US trade liberalisation can help Pakistan overcome its economic woes and make it help close its trade gap.
