Mob attacks on Pakistani students in Bishkek shock nation

PM sends delegation to Kyrgyzstan for safe return of Pakistani students

Islamabad : May @8,2024 : Mob attack on Pakistani students in Bishkek on Friday night has sent a wave of shock in Pakistan . Not only the families of those students who are studying in Kyrgyzstan are in unexplainable pain on the incident which left dozens of Pakistani students injured and hundred of others in trauma but every Pakistani is in unbearable pain as it is the matter of safety of their young ones who went to that country for study. This type of organized mob attack on foreign students in Bishkek is a failure of Kyrgyzstan government . Its good news that prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , has despatched Foreign minister , Ishaq Dar and his advisor Amir Maqam to Bishkek to speak to Kyrgyz government and ensure safety of Pakistani students in that country. Meanwhile , Pakistan International Air Lines (PIA) is having special flights to airlift Pakistani students from Bishkek . Pakistan government should pull back all Pakistani students from Bishkek and make arrangements for their education in Pakistan . For future , Pakistan should ban Pakistani students from studying in Kyrgyzstan. Meanwhile , Foreign Office issued an update on Bishkek incident. It said the government of Pakistan has been in contact with the Kyrgyz Government to ensure the safety and security of its nationals at risk in view of the mob riots of last night in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Kyrgyz authorities have expressed regret at the incidents of violence against foreign nationals including Pakistanis in Bishkek last night. They have also pledged to hold an inquiry and punish the perpetrators.

Embassy of Pakistan has opened emergency helplines and responding to queries of students and their families. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Hassan Ali Zaigham has been in close contact with senior Kyrgyz authorities. According to the Kyrgyz Health Ministry, four Pakistanis were provided first aid and discharged while one is under treatment for jaw injury.

Today, the Charge d’affaires of the Kyrgyz Embassy Mr. Melis Moldaliev was called to the Foreign Office for a demarche by Director General (ECO & CARs) Mr. Aizaz Khan. He was conveyed the deep concerns of the Government of Pakistan about the reports of last night’s incidents against Pakistani students studying in the Kyrgyz Republic. It was impressed on the Kyrgyz Charge d’affaires that the Kyrgyz government should take all possible measures to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani students and citizens residing in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Government of Pakistan takes the matter of the safety and security of its national around the world very seriously and will take all necessary measures to ensure their wellbeing.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister has directed the Foreign Office to monitor the situation round-the-clock and to fully assist and facilitate Pakistani nationals
