Doha / Lahore : Pakistan Shaheens defeat Bangladesh A in a thrilling match and become Asian champions Pakistan Shaheens have won the Asian title for the third time by defeating Bangladesh ‘A’ after an exciting match in the final of Asia Cup Rising Star.
The final played at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, the capital of Qatar, was decided in the Super Over. Chasing 125 runs by Pakistan Shaheens, Bangladesh ‘A’ team could also score only 125 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
In the Super Over, Bangladesh scored 6 runs while batting first, in response, Pakistan team achieved the target on the fourth ball itself and became the champion.
Earlier, Pakistan Shaheens started the innings disappointingly and Yasir Khan was run out on the first ball after taking unnecessary runs.
After the loss of Mohammad Faiq’s wicket for 2 runs, the Pakistan team could not cope and the Shaheens’ wickets kept falling intermittently and the batters kept returning to the pavilion.
In the stipulated 20 overs, the Pakistan team scored 125 runs and lost all 10 wickets.
Saad Masood scored 38 and Arafat Minhas scored 25 and Moaz Sadaqat scored 23 runs.
For Bangladesh, Ripon Mandol took 3 and Rakibul Hasan took 2 wickets, with 3 bowlers taking one wicket each.
In pursuit of the target, the Bangladesh team also appeared under pressure from the start of the innings, the intermittent wickets of the Bengal Tigers’ batters made even an easy target difficult.
After 7 wickets for 53, Pakistan’s victory seemed clear, but Rakibul Hasan’s 24, Abdul Ghaffar’s 16 and Ripon Mandol’s 11 runs played a significant role in taking the match to the Super Over.
For Pakistan, spinner Safyan Muqeem bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for just 11 runs, Ahmed Daniyal and Arafat Minhas took 2 wickets each, while Moaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood took one wicket each.
