Islamabad :
In a week marked by high-level diplomatic engagements and pivotal regional developments, Pakistan intensified its efforts to strengthen global partnerships while reaffirming its commitment to regional peace, economic cooperation, and humanitarian solidarity.
At the invitation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led a high-level delegation to Riyadh from October 27 to 29, 2025, to participate in the Ninth Edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9) Forum.
Held under the theme “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” the FII9 Forum brought together world leaders, investors, and innovators to deliberate on innovation, sustainability, and economic inclusion.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif held a significant meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince, culminating in the launch of a Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Economic Cooperation Framework. The initiative seeks to deepen bilateral ties through strategic projects in energy, mining, IT, tourism, agriculture, and food security — reflecting both nations’ shared vision for sustainable economic partnership.
The two sides also agreed to convene the next session of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council, with new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) under consideration, including electricity interconnection and energy cooperation projects.
In Riyadh, the Prime Minister met with World Economic Forum President and CEO Børge Brende, who invited him to attend the 2026 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to advancing multifaceted cooperation and jointly addressing regional challenges, including the situation in Gaza.
Dar also inaugurated an upgraded Consular Hall and One-Window MRP Service at the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, reflecting the government’s focus on improving services for overseas Pakistanis.
Continuing Pakistan’s robust diplomatic outreach, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held telephonic discussions with his counterparts from Algeria, Türkiye, and Canada this week.
In his conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, the two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, agriculture, and mining, particularly under the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPPA). Canada appreciated Pakistan’s facilitation of market access for Canadian canola exports.
Dar also spoke with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to closer cooperation and coordination in multilateral fora, including the United Nations.
In his exchange with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the two discussed the evolving situation in Gaza and Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ministerial meeting in Türkiye focused on peace efforts in Palestine.
The second round of Pakistan–Afghan Taliban talks, mediated by friendly nations, concluded in Istanbul on October 30 after four days of discussions.
Pakistan reiterated its clear position that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorism against Pakistan and emphasized the need for verifiable actions against terrorist groups, including Fitna al-Khwarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan.
Despite rising cross-border tensions earlier this month, Pakistan underscored that it seeks peaceful coexistence and remains committed to dialogue. Islamabad expressed appreciation for Qatar and Türkiye’s constructive mediation efforts and expressed hope for a positive outcome in the next round of talks on November 6, 2025.
Pakistan strongly condemned the renewed Israeli violations of the Gaza Peace Agreement, which have resulted in civilian casualties.
In a statement, Islamabad termed the attacks a “flagrant violation of international law” and urged the international community to ensure an immediate cessation of hostilities. Pakistan reiterated its principled stance for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.
The Third Session of the Pakistan–EU Migration and Mobility Dialogue was held in Islamabad this week, co-chaired by DG Europe Irfan Ahmed and EU Deputy DG Home Johannes Luchner.
The dialogue reviewed discussions from the 16th Joint Readmission Committee and the 3rd Talent Partnership Roundtable. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress under the EURA Agreement and agreed to advance the Pakistan-EU Talent Partnership Roadmap for legal migration and labor mobility. The next session will be held in Brussels.
On October 27, 2025, Pakistan solemnly marked the 78th anniversary of Kashmir Black Day, reaffirming unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination under UN Security Council Resolutions.
A range of activities, including seminars, exhibitions, and solidarity walks, were held across Pakistan and in diplomatic missions abroad. The President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to continue political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar addressed letters to UN and OIC leadership, urging urgent international attention to the human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Pakistan expressed solidarity with Türkiye following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the country on October 28. Islamabad offered humanitarian aid and extended heartfelt prayers for those affected.
Separately, Pakistan conveyed deep condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the revered Queen Mother of Thailand, paying tribute to her lifelong dedication to humanitarian work and women’s empowerment.
This week underscored Pakistan’s active diplomacy on multiple fronts — from strengthening economic partnerships with Saudi Arabia and the EU, to engaging constructively on Afghanistan and advocating for peace in Gaza and Kashmir.
