Islamabad : Feb 5 : A group of more than 100 Common Wealth Observers will monitor Pakistan’s general elections 2024. The group visited Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office here on Monday .
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) , Raja Sultan Sikander , welcomed the Common Wealth Observers group on arrival at ECP office . CEC briefed the Common Wealth Observers group on Pakistan’s preparations for holding general elections 2024. CEC told the visiting Common Wealth Observers group whose number is over 100 that Pakistan is a democratic country and it believes in healthy norms to promote democratic values to create a culture of decency in the society through elected representatives.
CEC said Pakistan follow an open door policy for international observers to help them visit polling booths. He said all international observers who are present in Pakistan have been issued accreditation cards. He assured that the international observers will be provided foolproof security during their stay in Pakistan.
Meanwhile , ECP on Monday said it has completed process of delivery of 260 million ballot papers across Pakistan . According to the latest data released by ECP, 18117 candidates are in the run for 2024 general elections.
In a related development , the Interior Department has deputed the army in the most sensitive districts of Punjab including Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur , Shaikhupura .
Pakistanis are going to vote on February 8 amidst rising terrorists activities. These elections are perhaps the most important for Pakistan as their result can decide its future.
