Pakistan’s new sensation Abrar Ahmed stuns England

Abrar Ahmed has taken 43 wickets in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season which is the most wickets of any bowler this year.

The father has a transport job and the family has been living in Karachi for a long time.

Abrar Ahmed says ‘I was very naughty as a child. Being the youngest in the house has its pros and cons. If one brother did the work, the other had to do the work too, but I used to put my mother ahead to save myself.

Abrar Ahmed says, ‘My elder brothers were fond of cricket. They used to go and play in Nishtar Park and other fields; I used to go and sit there and watch them play.

“Then came the time when I was playing and my brothers were watching me.”

Like many young cricketers of Karachi, Abrar Ahmed’s early career is marked by the intervention of coach Muhammad Masroor, who saw the hidden talent in him and gave him an opportunity to play.

At the request of Mohammad Masroor, Rashid Latif also included Abrar Ahmed in his cricket academy.

Abrar Ahmed says, ‘I had heard that when you go to an academy and play, you have to pay fees etc. But my bowling at the district level was so good that at that time there were three or four cricketers like me. Who received seven thousand rupees every month from Rashid Latif Academy? Coach Mickey Arthur was also impressed by Abrar Ahmed’s excellent performance in domestic cricket.

Abrar Ahmed says ‘I played two matches for Karachi Kings in the 2017 Pakistan Super League, although I did not manage to take any wickets, my spell against Owen Morgan in the match against Peshawar Zalmi helped Mickey Arthur. , Kumar Sangakkara and Mahila Jayawardene were very impressed.

Unfortunately, I suffered a hairline fracture in my back and I was away from cricket for almost two years, but during that period Mickey Arthur paid close attention to me and put me in the National Cricket Academy for forty days to work on my fitness.
