ISLAMABAD: The People Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition alliance, on Saturday sprang up again to launch a new phase of protest against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government.
PDM steering committee had a meeting here in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss the political situation of the country and other important national issues . It also discussed the Afghan issue and its fallout on Pakistan in the coming weeks and months.
After the steering committee meeting, chaired by Ahsan Iqbal of Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) , former prime minister and PMLN senior leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, told media that the steering committee has finalised a plan to relaunch anti government campaign in its meeting and its decisions will be presented in PDM summit meeting to be held in Karachi on August 28, 2021 for approval.
He said PDM will hold first rally againt the PTI government in Karachi on August 29, 2021.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the opposition rejects electronic voting machine (EVM) as it was being introduced to facilitate rigging in the future elections. He claimed that PDM is strieving for supermacy of constitution in the country.
State minister for Information, Furrukh Habib, chided PDM claims in his tweet and called them a new effort to secure the national reconcilliation ordinance (NRO) but it will not get it.
He said a gang of failed politicians wants to have NRO through creating public presaure on the government, but it will fail again in getting it. The state minister further said the opposition can not run away from electrol reforms.
