PESHAWAR : A powerful bomb blast on Friday claimed 56 lives, besides injuring 194 others here. The blast occured at a mosque in Qisa Khani Bazar here.
The attack, which the officials later dubbed as suicide bombing , occured exactly when the worshippers lined up for the prayer.
The suicide bomber targeted the worshippers who were offering Juma prayers. The dead bodies of the victims and injured were shifted to the local hospitals.
The local administration took emergency measures like declaring emergency at the local hospitals in Peshawar .
Prime minister , Imran Khan, condemned the suicide attack in the mosque in Peshawar . He termed it as a cowardly act of terror and said his government has exact information as to who was behind the Peshawar attack and what was its objective . The prime minister said he was personally supervising the operation after the attack in Peshawar .
Interior minister, Shaikh Rashid , condemned suicide attack in the mosque and called it as a part of well planned conspiracy against Pakistan. He said the government will chase the terrorists wherever they will hide. Shaikh Rashid rejected the media reports that the government had red alert of a possible terror attack in Peshawar .
The opposition parties also condemned the Peshawar terror attack . Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman condemned the Friday terror attack and called it a result of poor governance in the country. Bilawal claimed that the government of Imran Khan has soft corner for the terrorists . Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said his government will weed out terrorism from the country.
The provincial is government also probing the suicide.bombing to avoid any such act of terror in Peshawar.
