APFDA fears fertilizers crisis across Pakistan due to road blockades in Sindh

APFDA Patron -in -chief Mr Ghulam Ahmad demands early end to protests in Sindh to ensure supply of fertilizers from Karachi to other parts of Pakistan

Zafarwal : As road blockades in Sindh enter into 7th day , fertilizers supply chain has affected badly like many other crucial supplies that make ways from Karachi port to other parts of Pakistan. In particular disruption in supply of fertilizers due to the on-going protests in Sindh has created their shortage and subsequently it can push Pakistan into severe crises of fertilizers in coming days.

The protestors in Sindh have blocked roads for the last one week over construction of six new canals. The Pakistan People Party is leading the protests against construction of new canals.

Fearing fertilizers crises in Punjab and other parts of Pakistan , Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit , All Pakistan Fertilizer Dealers Association (APFDA) has expressed serious concern over shortage of fertilizers in the country due to road blockades in Sindh.

Talking to NEWSMAN , APFDA patron-in- chief, Mr Ghulam Ahmad , on Thursday said the protests in Sindh have entered into sixth day and it has created shortage of urea and DAP across Pakistan . Mr Ghulam Ahmad showed serious concern over road blockades in Sindh and demanded early solution to the on-going issue that instigated the people in Sindh to road blockades. He feared that road blockades and resultantly disruption in transportation of fertilizers from Karachi port to other parts of Pakistan could damage national agricultural productivity.

A day earlier, FMPAC had send an SoS to Sindh government seeking its intervention to streamline supply of fertilizers from Karachi to other parts of Pakistan.

Other supplies including medicines , general items of daily use and imported accessories , paper and thousands other items are transported from Karachi to other parts of Pakistan and all these crucial supplies have been disrupted due to road blockades in Sindh for the last one week. This unexpected development has created shortage of all crucial items in the markets across Pakistan. This situation has paralysed businesses of all kinds in the country.

APFDA patron in chief , Mr Ghulam Ahmad , has called upon the government of Sindh to take necessary steps to end road blocked in the province to end that the fertilizer supply does not suffer further to adversely affect agricultural productivity of Pakistan.
