ISLAMABAD, October 22,2024: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to promptly send two planeloads of relief supplies to Gaza and Lebanon, advocating for the use of both land and aerial routes to facilitate the aid delivery.
During a meeting focused on the ongoing relief efforts, the prime minister stressed the importance of coordinating with Pakistan’s ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt to ensure the effective distribution of aid to those in need.
Sharif appealed to citizens and expatriates to contribute generously to the PM Fund for Gaza and Lebanon, providing the account details for donations. He also called for an awareness campaign to inform the public about the established relief fund.
In the briefing, officials reported that essential items, including winter tents, clothing, blankets, medicines, and food, are being dispatched to those suffering from the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon. They noted that Israeli attacks and the blockade are hindering the delivery of these vital supplies.
The prime minister also indicated that the government would facilitate non-governmental organizations seeking to send aid to the affected regions. The meeting included several federal ministers and senior officials involved in the relief efforts.
