Islamabad : In a last minute move, Sharif government deprived Pakistani commuters of benefit of crashing oil prices in the global market by denying them cut in petroleum product prices.
Oil prices are lowering fast in the global market . Sharif government was supposed to cut down prices of petroleum products proportionately for 15 days and give considerable relief to the people in the prices of petroleum products . But it decided not to give relief to the people in the profes of petroleum products. This is the second time in a row that the local commuters have not been granted benefit of lowering oil prices .
Last time, Shahbaz government refused to cut down petroleum product prices hence deprived the commuters of lowering prices of oil in the global market. That time Shahbaz government tried to justify its decision of not giving relief to the commuters in petroleum product prices by announcing that it will give the masses equal benefit of oil prices in their power bills. This awkward justification was widely criticised by Pakistanis who did not find any link in power rates and oil prices. Just after two weeks , the federal government has denied relief of lowering oil prices to the commuters.
This time , Sharif government has given even more strange justification for denying relief to the commuters in the oil prices . In his address to the federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday , Prime Minister , Shahbaz Sharif, announced .not to reduce the prices of petroleum products for now . His argument for depriving the masses of relief in the oil prices is like chiding the people who are already moaning under killing price hike.
Basically , the prime minister ‘s argument for justifying the decision of not reducing prices of petroleum products for current fortnight and “USING” the money saved by keeping the price of petroleum products unchanged for construction of motorways and Balochistan ‘s poverty – hit people is unfortunate and like making mockery of poverty of the people of Pakistan.
This also shows how the prime minister mocks the poor of this country. One can not find an answer to this question as where PSDP funds have gone allocated in the last budget for these motorways and if there is no money in the treasury for development projects then how come entire family of Sharif was enjoying joyful foreign tours like one recently done of Belarus .
At least 10 non entitled members of Sharif family accompanied PM Sharif to his latest visit to Belarus . PM Sharif ‘s decision of denying relief in the oil prices will create more frustration among Pakistanis.
