ISLAMABAD: Prime minister, Imran Khan, has set up an 11-member national coordination committee (NCC) for transformation of the agriculture sector.
A notification to this effect has also been issued.
The NCC members included Jamshad Iqbal Cheema, special assistant to the prime minister on agriculture, Dr Abid Qayyum Suleri, member prime minister’s economic advisory council (EAC) and executive director SDPI, deputy governer State Bank of Pakistan, all provincial food secretaries, secretary ministry of Industries and production, secretary Food and Agruculture, FBR chairman or his representatiive and additional secretary ministry of National Food Security.
The terms of reference of the NCC included taking into account measures for turnaround of the agriculture sector and suggest steps to the prime minister for removing bottlenecks hampering progrss of the agriculture sector.
The cimmittee will also give directions to all concerned departments , divisions, ministries to formulate a result oriented agriculture policy for transformation of the agriculture sector..
