ISLAMABAD; Amid serious crisis of credibility, Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has categorically announced it will not, in any circumstances , cut down merit already announced for admission in medical and dental colleges under its regulatons.
The PMC council had issued a statement on December 24, 2020 wherein it said” it has prime responsibility that only those students enter into Pakistan’s medical and dental colleges who acquired highest marks in medical and dental colleges admission test (MDCAT) 2020 and to ensure implementation of this fundamental principle it will strictly follow the mininimum passing marks (65 %) policy in FSC/ HSSC exams and MDCAT passing marks (60 %) to apply for admission in medical and dental colleges across Pakistan”.
PMC is under huge criticism for its maiden MDCAT for different reasons. The students are protesting its marking creteria and demanding reduction in passing marks to get admission in medical and dental colleges.
PMC has brushed aside all these reservations and announced with the approval of its council to go ahead with its already announced admission policy.
PMC chairman had rejected criticism on MDCAT result at a press conference on December 24, 2020 and announced to go ahead with declared admission policy for 2020-21 for admission in private and public sector medical and dental colleges of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, PMC has amended original admission schedule to accomodate some results of foreign HSSC exams.
According to amended schedule, the last date to apply for admission in private colleges and public sector colleges will be January 19 , 2021 and January 22, 2021 respectively.
The merit list of private medical and dental colleges will be made public on January 24, 2021.
