Political and criminal nexus cause of rise in terrorism in KPK ; ISPR

ISPR Chief warns facilitators to handover foreign elements to state or get ready for operation aimed at weeding out terrorism in Pakistan

Peshawar : The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) director general Lt general , Ahmad Sharif Chaudhary , on Friday held an important press conference here wherein he noted that political and criminal nexus was behind rise in terrorism in Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) .

He said KPK police , Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and army was playing the process for political and criminal nexus by sacrificing their precious lives for defending the country. ISPR Director General presented statistics of intelligence operations conducted in KPK during the last two years . He said terrorists are using Afghan soil for carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan. He told a questioner that Pakistan is using all options including direct and indirect channels like Saudi Arabia to persuade Afghan government to stop terrorists from using Afghan soil against Pakistan. Mr Chaudhary said Pakistan’s law enforcing agencies (LEAs) have set high standards of sacrifices for defending the country and they will weed out terrorism in its all forms no matter what price it costs to them. He said Pakistani nation and it’s forces will defeat terrorism. According to ISPR , terrorists who have been killed during operations were in possession of arms left over by US in Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan will continue to facilitate Afghanistan for help in all forms including trade , health facilities as Pakistan and Afghanistan have multiple contracts like social , cultural and brotherly relations and Pakistan will continue to maintain these relations with Kabul. He warned that the facilitates must handover foreign criminal acts in Pakistan or get ready to see a operation to week out terrorists from KPK and other parts of Pakistan. General Chaudhary said KPK police and CTD have done great job against terrorists and their sacrifices are fully acknowledged and appreciated by the nation. Lt General Chaudhary added that trial of former corp commander , Faiz Hafeez, was going on and he will be given chance of a fair trial . He told a questioner that delay in the case of former ISI Director General , Faiz Hameed , is not a worry for the army.

Mr Chaudhary warned that the statusquo is not acceptable and the action will be taken against the facilitators of terrorists irrespective of their position or status.

He deplored that some political parties were trying to make their own narrative to show sympathies with terrorists by claiming that Afghans living in KPK were like their brothers and hence they can not be pushed to go back to Afghanistan . He suggested to the media that it should be watchful of those who were trying to advocate narrative which was proving opportunity to Afghans to carryout anti Pakistan activities in Pakistan. He made it clear that no individual is above the state and if anyone thinks he is sharply mistaken. ISPR Chief said the politicians who are actually facilitators of terrorists and they should keep their dirty politics away from the military.

He made it clear that Pakistan will not talk to terrorists as it has full force to make its foolproof security. ISPR Chief declared that Pakistan will take every step to ensure safety of its people.
