ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People Party (PPP) on Tuesday practically hauled Pakistan Demoratic Movement (PDM) when its central executive committee (CEC) linked resignations of its members from parliament with return of PMLN supremo, Nawaz Sharif, to Pakistan from London.
Nawaz Sharif is in London since 2017 and he is playing his cards from there. He is trying to run PMLN from London on the pattern of Altaf Hussain’s MQM. He has been hitting the state institutions hard to make them controversial. His main target had been the military and the superior judiciary of Pakistan.
One can easily understand the reason of his targetting the military and judiciary. He holds these two state institutions responsible of his ejectment from Pakistan’s politics. Nawaz Sharif also believes that it was the military that favoured Imran Khan to help his party..Pakistan Tehtreek -e-Insaf (PTI) to come to power after 2018 elections. Nawaz Sharif did every thing possible to make all those Pakistan’s institutions controversial which, in his views, were a hurdle in his staying in power for indefinate terms. To add his pressure on the military and other key institutions of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif formed PDM, an alliance of like- minded opposition parties some time back .
This alliance managed to create an impression through public rallies that PTI government was too weak to absorb its pressure and those days were not far away when it will topple the Imran Khan’s government and again come to power.
PDM public campaign did pull sizeable crowed to its rallies held in different parts of the country since October last. PDM seemed determined to take its campaign to logical end . .. throwing Imran Khan out of power …but it suffered a big jolt on Tuesday when PPP’s CEC linked resignations of its members from parliament , a key condition of PMLN to put pressure on the government , with return of Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan from London.
Nawaz Sharif can not accept PPP condition to return to the country. At least his recent statements and actions suggest, PMLN supremo likes to stay in London as long as he fears risk in his return to Pakistan. His staying back in London when the deadbody of his mother was flown back from London to Pakistan in recent past is its practical proof. Can one think that a man who does not come to Pakistan to attend burial of his mother will now return home on PPP’s call.
Everyone is narrating
PPP’s condition of Nawaz return to get its members resignations in his own way, but one thing is for sure that it has put Nawaz Sharif in trouble. It also seemingly set a stage for unnatural death of PDM , besides putting a big question mark on Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s political future.
The political anaylists made interesting comments after PPP’s decision.
Some social media activists said ” Aik Zardari sub pay bhari”.
One Zardari is heavier than all.
The PTI government celeberated it as its succss. Its spokespersons termed the new development as practical end of PDM in media talk.
No comments were offered by any opposition party on this new twist in PPP politics.
