The PPP issued a press note that the people of Umerkot have rejected all the opposition parties by electing the PPP candidate in the by-elections.

In the by-elections of the National Assembly constituency NA-213, the PPP nominated candidate Saba Talpur has defeated the joint candidate of the PTI and the opposition alliance, Lal Chand Malhi. Lal Chand Malhi had contested the elections as an independent candidate in the same constituency in the last general elections and had secured 37,958 votes. At that time, the PML-N candidate Amanullah Khan Talpur was in second place with 44,847 votes.

In the recent by-elections, although the PPP nominated candidate Saba Talpur defeated the joint candidate of the PTI and the opposition, her vote bank has decreased compared to the past and the combined vote bank of the opposition has increased. This National Assembly constituency is a very sensitive constituency of Sindh where the vote bank of the Hindu community and the Muslim community is very active and the TLP and other religious parties and religious figures have political influence in this constituency. In the last elections, TLP candidate Malik Kamran Rashid got 5997 votes from this constituency, MQM’s Premchand got 1542 votes and Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Ijaz got 1230 votes. After the recent by-election results,

The circles close to the PPP believe that turnover is always low in by-elections. Despite the recent election results, the PPP does not face any political threat here yet. In the by-election, voters living in this constituency who are residing outside the city due to their professional duties could not cast their votes due to the federal government not granting a holiday on the occasion of the by-election.

After winning this constituency, the PPP issued a press note that the people of Umerkot have rejected all the opposing parties by electing the PPP candidate in the by-election. Nisar Khuhro said that it has been proven that all the parties cannot compete with the PPP even if they come together.

In the Umerkot by-elections, the opposing parties have been defeated despite forming an alliance due to the hatred of the PPP. The PTI candidate’s admission of defeat in the by-elections is proof that the by-elections have been transparent. Strict security arrangements were made for the by-elections in Umerkot constituency NA-213 Umerkot.

The number of registered voters in the constituency is 608,997, the total number of polling stations in the constituency was 498, 269 polling stations were declared sensitive and 91 were declared highly sensitive, police and Rangers contingents were deployed to maintain law and order. A public holiday was declared in the entire Umerkot district due to the by-election.

It should be noted that the seat fell vacant due to the death of Nawab Yousaf Talpur of the PPP. There was a tough contest between Saba Talpur of the PPP and the joint candidate of the opposition, Lal Chand Malhi.

In addition to the joint candidate of PTI and GDA, 18 candidates including JUI and Jamaat-e-Islami were in the fray. This National Assembly seat fell vacant after the death of Nawab Yousaf Talpur of the PPP.
