Islamabad : Feb 13, 2024: Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman , Balawal Bhutto , on Tuesday said his party will support to the Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) candidate for the prime ministership to help it form the government in the centre and strengthen democratic process in Pakistan.
However , chairman Balawal Bhutto noted that PPP will not be a part of the next federal government. Addressing a press conference after two- day long deliberations in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the party on post election political situation , Balawal Bhutto said PPP will vote for the government on the case- to- case basis to ensure continuity of the democratic process in Pakistan .
PPP chairman said he can foresee political uncertainty in the country and PPP will support the next federal government to foil any such attempt . He said PPP joined last Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government to which the party expressed reservations in CEC meeting . He said his party does not have required numbers in the national assembly so he is not a candidate for the prime minister . Balawal Bhutto added that he would desire that when the process of president of Pakistan begins in a few months , Asif Ali Zardari once again becomes head of the state of Pakistan .
A meeting of the Pakistan People Party (PPP) central executive committee (CEC) called to discuss post election scenario and formulate the future strategy has decided to follow a wait and see policy before taking any final decision on the question of if PPP should become a part of the coalition government or not .Ex president , Asif Ali Zardari and party chairman , Balawal Bhutto , jointly chaired CEC meeting held in Islamabad on Monday. Those who attended CEC meeting included Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani , Raja Pervez Ashraf , Faisal Kundi, Faryal Talpur, Yousaf Talpur , Chaudhary Yasin , Chaudhary Latif , Farhatullah Babar , Syed Khurshid Shah, Sheri Rehman , Shazia Mari, Syed Nayyar Bukhari , Qamar Zaman Kaira , Murad Ali Shah , Qaim Ali Shah and others . CEC was briefed on possible power sharing formula with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) to form government in the centre. PMLN and PPP had the first direct contact in Lahore a few days ago when PMLN chief , Shahbaz Sharif , had a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari and Balawal Bhutto . The two sides had shared possible power sharing formula discussed in Lahore meeting held last week.
