Various videos are in circulation on social media suggesting high handedness of the security apparatus operating in Swat that has resulted into the ongoing wave of protests by ordinary citizens.
In one such video, an undercover security personnel in plain clothes identified in the video as Subedar Sahab was seen intercepted and questioned by the civil administration official about the legality of his transporting ordinary citizens allegedly not linked to terrorism or militancy that also in a private car, the suspects could be seen in the back seat of the car properly blind folded with their hands tied behind them, while they are filmed and mask removed from the face of the person claiming to be Subedar.
Such hideous actions by the security personnel especially under cover is what has created misgivings amongst the local population.. Ordinary citizens believe there is little difference between the modus operandi of terrorists and security agencies that makes the two more or less being of the same kind both by their appearance or actions neither identifiable by their official uniform nor their actions covered by law or any moral justification . .
While I write these lines planning to leave for Mardan to join my cousin Honourable Abbas Sarfaraz Khan , the present Khan of Mardan, to be in attendance for the mass dua for the soul of my late uncle Aziz Sarfaraz Khan, that my thoughts are with the different student bodies , citizens from different walks of lives and journalists under a non political group of citizens ” Swatian” , founded by a journalist Honourable Ihsan Haqqani , who all would be holding a peaceful protest at the National Press Club Islamabad today in the evening to demand peace for Swat, adversely affecting lives of ordinary citizens of Swat as well as our sons and brothers serving in the armed forces caught between the hard rock and the blue sea deep sea. I hope Capt Muhammad Usman the incumbent Chief Commisioner Islamabad, a competent civil servant ensures this peaceful protest is not stopped on any excuse to deny common citizens their right to register heir protest peacefully and within the law. .
The army senior leadership better read the writing on the wall and consider this protest movement gaining momentum with every passing day to be an indication for them to opt for immediate tactical withdrawal from this conflict zone of Swat to avoid any further damage to its credibility and image amongst the common citizens, failing which there is every likelihood of Civil – Military confrontation for which no foriegn agency would be responsible except our own follies of always being self – directed towards self – destruction then wise enough to feel pulse of the people and try be in conformity of popular public sentiments and aspirations.
