PS&DC -ICT seals pharmacy operating without drug sale license

ISLAMABAD: The Pharmacy Services & Drug Control (PS&DC), Health Department, ICT, has intensified enforcement following the recent judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court regarding the operation of pharmacies and medical stores by Registered Medical Practitioners without a valid Drug Sale Licence.

The Secretary Sardar Shabbir Ahmed headed the task.

During a recent inspection, a PS&DC-ICT team found a pharmacy operating within a medical centre involved in the sale of therapeutic goods/drugs without the requisite Drug Sale Licence, besides overpricing. The premises were consequently sealed in accordance with law.
The enforcement operation was conducted by Drug Inspectors Ms. Amber Basharat, Mr. Gulzaib Khan and Ms. Tahreem Sara, under the supervision of Secretary, Quality Control Board, Sardar Shabbir Ahmed.


PS&DC-ICT has once again directed all Registered Medical Practitioners to strictly comply with applicable drug laws. No pharmacy, medical store or outlet dealing in therapeutic goods/drugs may operate without a valid Drug Sale Licence.
All licensed distributors have also been directed to immediately stop supplying medicines and therapeutic goods to unlicensed pharmacies, medical stores, medical centres or other outlets engaged in the sale of such products.PS&DC-ICT has warned that violations will invite strict regulatory and legal action. The Department will continue inspections and enforcement against individuals and establishments found operating in contravention of the law.
