PTI ‘Azadi’ march ends-up with new deadline for general elections

Pakistan paid for PTI long march on key fronts

ISLAMBAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Islamabad march ended in wee hours of Thursday here with a new deadline to the coalition government to call in mid term elections in six days.
PTI chairman, Imran Khan, addressed the participants of the march at D-Chowk and asked them to end the march after issuing a warning to the government to face his march again in 6 days or announce new elections in the country.
The PTI chief’s announcement to end- up ‘Azadi’ march after day long clashes between the police and his workers who left dozens injured from both sides was yet another surprise as it negated his time and again assertions that ‘Azadi’ march will stay in Islamabad till announcement of the new elections in the country.
Imran Khan is known for his surprise U turns and he upheld his this peculiar characteristic of his personality by ending- up the march abruptly . PTI chief always keeps his political opponents crossed fingered due to his unexpected decisions.
The PTI chief terms his characteristic of taking U turn as a successful strategy.
PTI ‘Azadi’ march of Wednesday took lives of at least 4 party die hard workers who lost lives in different incidents. Two unlucky party workers lost lives when they fell from a truck top to a river in Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) and another two party workers lost lives after falling from a container near Bati chowk in Lahore. Two police personnel also lost their lives on duty in two different incidents during the last 48 hours.
On economic front, PTI march shied away the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as it did not agree with Pakistan’s economic team that held a week long negotiations with its staff . The fund did assured Pakistan to have more talks with it to reach to an agreement for release of $ 1 billion installment under EFF programme, but it will keep dragging until Pakistan gets out of current political turmoil.
As a result of PTI march, Pakistan lost the opportunity to publically protest against India’s decision of sentencing All Pakistan Hurriat Conference (APHC) leader, Yasin Malik whom Indian court sentenced to life in an unfounded crime of terror financing. PTI chief did not utter a single word in his day long speeches on Wednesday to condemn Indian act of sentencing Yasin Malik whose sole crime is to struggle for Kashmir cause.
