ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), contrary to its spirit of name (Insaf) and narrative (accountability of all) seems doing injustice to its own party leaders as its disciplinary committee is summoning the party leaders for ‘explanation’ at a farm house in Islamabad. The address given in a show cause notice issued to Ghulam Murtaza Satti, a senior party leader, does not show address of any party office. It, rather, shows address of a farm house where Ghulam Murtaza Satti was asked to appear before the disciplinary committee, headed by Col (Retd) Afrasiab. Ghulam Murtaza Satti had contested the last election on PTI ticket. Sadaqat Abbasi had won the election in 2018 on PTI ticket from NA 57 Rawalpindi 1, but Ghulam Murtaza Satti who was a party candidate for the provincial assembly under Sadaqat Abbasi’s constituency lost his election. Since Sadaqat Abbasi and Ghulam Murtaza Satti are from the same area and they have their own clans and they do politic of their own constituencies, the two sometimes oppose each other on local issues. As happens on many local issues, the two PTI leaders—Sadaqat Abbasi and Ghulam Murtaza Satti– developed differences over some local issue of land in Murree and on the same basis, Ghulam Murtaza Satti held a press conference in Kotli Sattian (his home town) and criticized Sadaqat Abbasi’s style of politic. Ghulam Murtaza Satti had told the press conference that he will not let Sadaqat Abbasi use PTI forum for his personal or family financial gains. This rant of Ghulam Murtaza Satti created cripples at the highest party level and this finally led to issuance of show cause notice to him by the party disciplinary committee. However, PTI disciplinary committee, rather than summoning the senior leader like Ghulam Murtaza Satti in any party office in Islamabad, summoned him at a farm house to explain his position on the controversial press conference.
Sources close to Ghulam Murtaza Satti confirmed to NEWSMAN on the condition of anonymity about issuance of show cause notice by the party for holding press conference against a sitting party MNA and summoning him by the disciplinary committee at the farm house to explain his position. These sources also confirmed that Ghulam Murtaza Satti refused to appear before the disciplinary committee calling its decision of summoning him at a farm house improper. Instead appearing before the disciplinary committee, Satti opted to explain his position on the controversial press conference to Amir Kayani, party secretary general. This correspondent tried to contact Amir Kayani through whatsapp, telephone calls for more than one week to get his comments on the issue, but he never responded. Ghulam Murtaza Satti too was not available for his comments despite repeated calls and whatsapp messages.
