ISLAMABAD : August 22,2023: The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday got the first relief when a special court of Islamabad granted bail to Asad Umar in cipher case.
After arrest of Shah .Mahmood Qureshi , Asad Umar , a close political aide to PTI chief , Imran Khan , had gone ‘missing’ in the federal capital on Sunday. He appeared before the court today and pleaded to grant him bail in the case. The petition filed by Asad Umar said that the case against him was baseless and the sections included in the first information report (FIR) were wrong.
The petition requested the court to accept the PTI leader’s bail plea as he was willing to cooperate fully in the investigations.
The court admitted the application and granted Umar bail till August 29, while directing him to submit a surety bond of Rs100,000 against the bail.
Speaking to the media after the hearing, the former federal minister rebutted the reports of his recent arrest, saying that the FIA had not arrested him.
Asad Umar said that he has joined the probe on the matter of cipher twice.
The PTI leader said that the PTI leaders facing the allegations, in this case, will be vindicated. PTI vice chairman , Shah Mahmood Qureshi ,is already on physical remand in this case . The Federal In estivation Agency (FIA) is also investigating jailed former prime minister and PTI chairman, Imran Khan, in the cipher case.
