ISLAMABAD : October 16,2022: In a comparatively peaceful by-elections held for 8 national assembly and 3 Punjab assembly seats on Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) remained victorious. It won 6 out of 8 seats of the national assembly.
PTI also won two seats of Punjab assembly .
But real victorious of Sunday’s by-elections remained Pakistan People Party (PPP) . It won two important seats of national assembly . Its Abdul Hakeem Baloch defeated PTI chief Imran Khan in NA 237 in Malir in Karachi . PPP also won a crucial contest in NA 157 where its candidate Mosa Ali Gillani defeated Shahar Bano of PTI . The win of PPP in Multan and Karachi in Sunday’s by – elections could give it a big boost for the next general elections.
Although Imran Khan’s PTI won 6 out of 8 national assembly seats, but in practical terms , since Imran Khan was contesting from 7 out of which he won on 6 seats , Sunday’s entire by-elections were just a futile exercise and wastage of public funds..
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) could win only one seat of Punjab assembly from Shaikhupura .
In by -election in NA 22 Mardan , Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chief , Imran Khan won a seat. He got 76861 votes.He defeated Mohammad Qasim of Jamiaat e Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) who could bag only 68181 votes.
From NA 24 Charsada , PTI chief , Imran Khan, won by securing 78589 votes. Amil Wali of ANP got only 68656 votes.
NA 31 Peshawar Imran Khan won here by getting 57824 votes . Haji Ghulam Bilour of ANP could get only 32253 votes.
From NA 108 Faisalabad , Imran Khan won by bagging 99841 votes. His opponent Abid Shair Ali of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) got only 75266 votes.
NA 118 PTI chairman , Imran Khan won from this constituency and got 90180 votes. Runner up, Dr Shandra Mansab of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) got 78024 votes.
Multan NA 157 Mosa Ali Gillani won with a big margin and secured 107327 votes. Shahar Bano Qureshi of Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) got only 82141 votes .
This was a one -on-one contest between young generations of arch political rivals of Multan — Qureshi and Gillani.
In Karachi , Pakistan Tehreen e Insaf (PTI) chief lost to Pakistan People Party (PPP) , Abdul Hakeem Baloch in NA 237 Malir .
PTI chief is leading in NA 339 Karachi . In this constituency Nayyar Raza of MQM was contesting against Imran Khan. MQM could not make any reasonable show against PTI chief.
ANP and JUI-F also could not win any seat in these by-elections . ANP lost in both constituencies -NA 22 and NA 31. JUI-F also faced defeat in only constituency NA 24 Mardan .
