ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, has said Quran is only base for Muslim unity and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government is striving for promition of Quranic teaching in the country.
The minister was addressing concluding ceremony of national Quran and Hadith competition held here .
Jamia Al -Mustafa Al -Alamia Islamabad had organised the competition.
In his address, Pir Noorul Haq Qadri said Quran and Sunna can bring Muslim Umma at one platform, besides ensuring social and economic progress among Muslim countries. The minister asserted that the government believes in interfaith harmony to bring the followers of different sects closer and create an environment of peace and brotherhood in the country. He added that the government has facilitated scholars coming from different sects to see translation of holy Quran and then it waas published. This initiative will help bring all sects at one point for better understanding of holy Quran.
The minister maintained that some scruplous elements wanted to create disharmony and sectarinism in Pakistan and they like the last year this year also floated anti harmony publications ahead of Moharam. He said all sects were aware of such elements and they foiled these nefarious agendas by rejecting the conspiracy.
The minister appreciated the role of Jamia Al Mustsfa Al Islamia in promotion of Quranic teachings in the country.
Professor Mohuddin Hashmi, Dean of Arabic and Islamic Studies Department of Allama Iqbal Open University, also addressed the ceremony.
He stressed the need to teach the students of Quran and Sunna how to speak and behave to give positive image of Islam to the rest of the people. He opined that difference of opinion always pays good dividened as it serves as a catalyst to help learn from mistakes.
Professor Hashmi lauded the role of Jamia Al Mustafa Al Islamia in promotion of Quranic teachings and Sunna in the country.
Other prominent speakers of the event included Shaikh Mohsin Ali Najfi , member Islamic Idealogy Council , Dr Hussain Akbar and Pir of Chora Sharif, Pir Saadat Ali Shah, and Haider Naqvi former member IIC.
