Islamabad : Sustainable Development Policy Institue (SFPI) is pleased to announce its flagship event, the 29th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC), from 2 – 5 November 2026, in Islamabad, Pakistan, under the overarching theme of “Rethinking Development in an Age of Disruption” bringing together academia, policymakers, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to advance dialogue and collaboration. Alongside the Conference, SDPI will also host the 4th Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE) 2026 titled “Connecting Ideas, Investment and Impact for Resilient Development”.

The Conference is being convened at a moment of profound global uncertainty. The convergence of geopolitical (SFPI) , climate shocks, economic fragmentation, technological transformation, and erosion of multilateral cooperation is driving a fundamental reconfiguration of the development landscape that extends beyond implementation challenges to fundamental questions of purpose, governance, collective action and policy autonomy. Rising geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions have exposed the fragility of global systems, disrupting energy markets, trade routes and supply chains, with significant consequences for inflation, food security and economic stability. The retreat from multilateralism, including climate cooperation and development financing, signals a shifting global order and diminishing support from traditional institutions. Rethinking development therefore requires renewed focus on the three Es: Economy, Environment and Equity.
