ISLAMABAD : Nov 24,2022:. While erasing all together all speculations and rumours regarding top level appointments in the arny , president Dr Arif Alvi , has signed the summary to endorse appointments of Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman Joint Staff Committee (CJSC) and Lt Gen , Asim Munir , as chief of the army staff !COAS).
The president signed the summary under article 243 of the constitution in his office at around 5.30 PM on Thursday.
After signing of the summary , both top military generals were formally conveyed by the presidency through proper channel about the decision.
Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , had earlier on Thursday sent summary to the president for confirmation of these top level appointments.
Lt Gen Asim Munir will take over as new COAS on Nov 29, 2022.
Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad and Lt Gen Asim Munir are scheduled to meet president Dr Arif Alvi and prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , separately this evening.
Its a tradition in Pakistan that the new appointees for the offices of CJSC and COAS meet the president and prime minister.
With signing of the summary for appointment of the new CJSC and COAS, the rumours mills have come to a grinding halt.
The entire country was in the grip of rumours regarding appointment of the army chief and it was creating a panic like situation in the country .
The rumour mongers were on the loose since months without taking into account the impact of their speculations on the institution of the army and Pakistan.
