As the morning of Thursday, June 29th, 2023, dawned, I intended to write this article at 4 am. Unfortunately, due to a low battery, I couldn’t seize that opportune moment when my thoughts were brimming with words.
As a poet and a creative writer, my words flow in harmony with my mood. I ponder whether I can truly do justice to this piece. However, perhaps the photo accompanying this article will suffice in conveying the essence of my thoughts. For those wise individuals among my family and friends, it won’t be difficult to read between the lines and question whether justice has been served to those who sacrificed their birthplaces, families, and friends in the name of their faith—the faith that led to the creation of this country.
If the answer is in the negative, we must then contemplate whether this country, which was born to serve its people fairly and equitably, unlike their former colonial masters, still has the right to exist. Are its people still to be made to believe that their survival is intrinsically tied to the country’s existence? Or are they living in a fool’s paradise, where the misguided path taken by the country’s leadership has brought it to its current state of ruin?
In the sacred act of religious sacrifice, millions of faithful individuals slaughter animals as a remembrance of the great sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to offer his son Ismail as per the wish of his Lord. This act of selflessness and devotion is intended to be an eternal lesson for humanity.
However, it seems that our selfish leaders have emulated this sacrifice in a different manner. They continuously slaughter the hapless nation to satisfy their insatiable lust for power and money. Although this pursuit may temporarily appear advantageous to them, it is crucial to recognize that all those involved in this criminal enterprise will soon face the judgment of history. None of them will escape the accompanying humiliation and guilt. These individuals, along with their future generations, will forever bear the burden of their actions.
The lesson we must learn from the religious ritual of sacrifice is not to emulate the greed and lust for power exhibited by our leaders but to embody the selflessness, justice, and empathy displayed by Prophet Ibrahim. Only then can we strive for a nation that thrives on fairness, equality, and prosperity for all its citizens.
As the sun rises on this fateful day, let us reflect upon the sacrifices made, ponder the absence of justice, and contemplate the future of our nation. It is in our hands to shape a destiny that rejects the path of ruin and embraces the ideals of integrity, compassion, and righteousness. Long Live Pakistan Devoid Of Selfless Sacrifice. 🇵🇰
