KARACHI : Dec 26,2022: Sarfaraz Ahmed, who returned to Test cricket after almost four years, proved his mettle and played innings-saving knock for Pakistan on day 1 of the opening Test against New Zealand.
After remarkable knock here at National Bank Cricket Arena, Sarfaraz talked his heart out with journalists.
“When I walked out for batting, my heartbeat was out of control. During first three balls of the innings, it felt like I was making debut,” shared Sarfaraz.
“I needed confidence at that moment and Babar Azam supported me a lot. Alhumdulillah, things worked for me and I performed,” he added.
Sarfaraz scored 86 runs off 153 balls to save Pakistan from further collapse.
“I was too excited when I got to know about my comeback. Shahid Bhai texted me and I called him back. He gave me much confidence,” he said.
The former captain thanked his friends, fans, family members and media for their support. “I wasn’t sure whether I will be able to play my 50th Test or not,” he said.
“Last four years were tough for me, but I sat in good gathering where people always motivated me. I would like to thank my friends, fans, family and media for always supporting me,” he concluded.
