ISLAMABAD : July 25, 2022. . Amid heightened political tension, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) is going to resume hearing into deputy speaker , Dost Mohammad Mazari’s ruling of rejecting 10 votes of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid e Azam (PMLQ) in election of the chief minister Punjab.
But prior to start of hearing by 3 -membee bench on July 25 (today) , SCP may have to address demand of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and other parties of the ruling allaice that a full court comprising 12 judges should hear the case as it is a case of extra ordinary significance .
Soon after Saturday’s hearing , PMLN and other parties of the ruling alliance had raised serious reservation about the observations made by chief justice , Umar Atta Bundial , Justice Ejazul Ahsin and justice Munib Akhater and demanded that a full court should hear the case that was directly related to a peovince having more than 50 % population of Pakistan.
Although , SCP has not issued any direction on demand of the ruling alliance to form a full court to hear the case on Monday in Islamabad ,but the media statements of PMLN and Jamiat e Islam Fazal (JUI) suggest that SCP may have serious repucuasions that may lead to more political.crisis if top court did not PPP placed the matter in hand before the full court.
PMLN and JUI – F have been creating an impression that the bench currently hearing the case was biased towards PMLN and its leadership.
PMLN leaders are publicaly shown their reservation about the judges who are currently hearing the case and calling them as idealogicaly close to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).
Any decision without addressing the.concerns of the ruling allaice will weaken Pakistan in coming times.
A cording to the media reports, the ruling alliance will hold a press conference at around 10 AM and announce to file a petition pressing SCP to form a full court to hear the case .
