Islamabad : Senate chairman , Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, has congratulated the nation over passing of 26th constitutional amendment by the upper house of the parliament .
In his statement issued by his office , Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said passing of 26th amendment in the constitution is going to reform Pakistan’s judicial system in accordance with the aspirations of the Pakistan People Party (PPP) founding leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He noted that PPP was working since long for judicial reforms with a plan to make the judicial system effective and deliverable.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani gave the credit of passing of 26th constitutional amendment to PPP chairman , Balawal Bhutto. He claimed that Balawal Bhutto made untiring efforts to bring the parliamentarians on the negotiation table and pass 26th amendment in the constitution.
He added that 26th constitutional amendment will improve working among high courts and strengthen the judicial system of Pakistan.
The senate of Pakistan had passed a bill on October 19 for passing of the controversial 26th amendment in the constitution.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) of jailed prime minister , Imran Khan , had opposed the said amendment in the constitution in the upper house , terming it as ultra constitutional.
Imran Khan’s PTI is likely to oppose to it in the national assembly also and later if passed by the lower house it can challenge it in top Court of Pakistan.
