ISLAMABAD : JUNE 19,2023: A private bill unanimously passed by the Senate of Pakistan for grant of unparalleled financial concessions to its chairman has shocked the nation. The upper house of the parliament had passed a private bill last week unanimously which enhances financial benefits many folds for its chairman.
The bill provides that the upper sealing for maintenance and decor of the house of chairman Senate will increase from Rs 0.1 million to five million per annum .
This is a unique equation for allowing the chairman senate to burden the national kitty through grabbing huge perks and privileges when Pakistan’s kitty is totally empty . Likewise , the private bill passed by the Senate permits its chairman to have one and half dozens security personnel / guards and enjoy motorcade as big as he wishes for himself and his family.
The bill has also financial benefits for the members of the upper house . These incentives granted to the chairman of the upper house of the parliament are unbelievable. Such a loot in the name of incentives can not even be granted to a chairman of the Senate of any rich country .
Pakistani nation is in shock that what made Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government to grant such a huge financial benefits to the Senate chairman when Pakistan is penny less and risking a danger of default.
Unfortunately, it was not the ruling alliance only which supported and voted in favour of the private bill to allow the chairman of the upper house of parliament to enjoy unparalleled concessions for life time , but the opposition parties like Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) also joined the bandwagon to make sure that the private bill aimed at passing on huge financial benefits to the chairman and members of the upper house sails through the Senate without any problem.
Pakistan is passing through the most difficult phase of its 75-year history. Its shrinking economy has left it’s huge percentage of population to live without two meal a day. Interestingly, Shahbaz government is appealing to the starving nation to face difficult decisions in a hope of good days ,but its not ready to cut down its unnecessary expenditure . Instead cutting down its non developmental expense , Shahbaz Sharif government is promoting the culture of lavish life-style for its top decision makers . One example is the bill passed by the upper house to grant undue benefits to its chairman.
