ISLAMABAD . (July 9, 2022). After Ayaz Amir and several other journalists , Sami Ibrahim, a senior anchor journalist and you tuber , was attacked by some unidentified persons here on Saturday.
Sami Ibrahim ,who was in the eye of the storm for long due to his outspoken and straight Media talks on a private TV channel and his You Tube channel , was attacked by three to four persons in plain clothes when he came out of his office in a commercial centre in Islamabad.
Sami Ibrahim was under investigations for his some hard hitting media talks and he had faced an Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiry in the recent past .
An eye witness said the assailants tried to pick up Sami Ibrahim for kidnapping, but due to resistance of the victim and gathering of the public at the scene they could not do so.
According to the eye witness , the assailants had a green number vehicle parked on a distance from the scene and they fled in their car after physically torturing the journalist.
Talking to NEWSMAN after the attack , Sami Ibrahim said he was attacked by some unidentified persons outside his office in G -6 markaz . He recalled that those who attacked him kept repeating you abuse us .
Since coming of Shahbaz Sharif led coalition government in power in April last , many senior journalists have been physically attacked . Senior anchor person , Ayaz Amir was beaten up recently in Lahore probably for his blunt speech at a seminar only a day before the attack . Some of them are facing cases and being dragged in jails and the courts . It seems that the journalists are being attacked according to a plan in Pakistan to cull their voice.
Pakistan Federation of Union of Journalists (PFUJ) strongly condemned attack on Sami Ibahim and demanded immediate end to attacks on journalists. It also demanded arrests of culprits involved in attack on Sami Ibrahim.
PFUJ leaders , Nasir Zaidi and Shahzada Zulfiqar , in their statements issued here on Saturday said the attack on Sami Ibrahim was a continuation of a plan meant to harass the journalists and stop them from performing their professional activities..
