Islamabad : June 3,2024 : After keeping the cards close to his heart for long time , Pakistan ‘s ex -prime minister , Shahid Khaqan Abbasi , has finalised name for his AWAM PAKISTAN PARTY to start his afresh political innings in Pakistan. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has also picked up the first batch of his like-minded politicians to join his party . Sources close to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi confirmed to this scribe that ex-prime minister and once a close and trusted political aide to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) chief and ex -prime minister , Mian Nawaz Sharif , is likely to formally launch his party very soon.Some names which will be joining Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ‘s new party could be former Finance minister , Mifta Ismael , ex advisor to prime minister , Dr Zafar Mirza , ex -senator , Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Shaikh Salauddin . For some time Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was critical to PMLN politics and wanted from Sharifs not to prefer politics of their personal gains over the issues of the people of Pakistan. He remained loyal to Nawaz Sharif for three decades, but distanced himself from PMLN leadership when it opted to form government after ouster of Imran Khan from the power corridors in April 2022. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi like many other PMLN leaders had developed the feelings that Sharifs wanted to make government after dismissal of Imran Khan rule for their personnel benefits . Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other estranged PMLN leaders also had feelings that Sharifs’ decision to form government after voting out Imran Khan in 2022 not only damaged PMLN, but also weakened democratic process in Pakistan. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed these views publicly more than once to convey his arguments to top PMLN leadership, but it did not impress Sharifs . Sharifs have a history of going for their way in politics and they damn care for dissenting views . They followed the same approach in the case of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi , leaving no room for him to stay in PMLN. This scenario left no option for Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, but to form his own party. Since Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is a conscious person he took due time to take a decision to finalised name for his political party and find like-minded politicians to join it. With completing his homework , Shahid Khaqan Abbasi seems only days away from launching his political party.
