ISLAMABAD : Feb 18,2023: Federal minister for Planning , Development and Special Initiatives , Ahsin Iqbal , has surrendered his V-8 Land Cruiser 4500 CC to bear burden of the on-going economic crisis of Pakistan.
Mr Ahsin Iqbal in his letter addressed to Cabinet Secretary , Ejaz Ahmad Dar , asked the government to replace his V-8 4500 Land Cruiser officially allowed him as a minister for Planning , Development and Special Initiative with a small car of 1800 CC or less.
In the latter Ahsin Iqbal said the country is currently going through a very serious economic crisis and the people of Pakistan are bearing its burden. In the given situation he , as a Federal minister , wants to surrender his official vehicle –V-8 Land Cruiser 4500 CC as its use and maintenance costs the exchequer exorbitantly.
The Planning Commission had purchased the said V-8 Land Cruiser bullet proof for Ahsin Iqbal soon after becoming its minister sometimes in Junr-July last year. The vehicle is a bulletproof and its purchase cost the national exchequer over Rs 150 million .
Now after around six months , Ahsin Iqbal is surrendering the same bullet proof Land Cruiser and instead he wants a small ordinary car of 1800 CC or less.
Ahsin Iqbal’s initiative is a right step in the right direction. It set a good trend for other ministers to follow.
