ISLAMABAD:. Speaker Asad Qaisar , on Friday adjourned national assembly session soon after offering fateh for former president Rafiq Tarar . Rafiq Tarar had died some weeks ago.
,” It’s the routine of this house that it’s proceedings are adjourned after offering fateh for any deceased member and to maintain the same today’s session is adjourned till 4 pm Monday March 28, 2022 ” , speaker Asad Qaisar ruled amidst strong protest of the opposition which wanted him to start proceedings of house to debate on no confidence moved by it against prime minister, Imran Khan.
The opposition had tabled a no confidence motion on March 8, 2022 to oust the prime minister from his office and according to the constitution speaker, Asad Qaisar, was bound to call national assembly session for debate and voting on no confidence motion within 14 days after receiving the motion. Statistically , the speaker was required to summon session of the national assembly maximum by March 21 2022. But Asad Qaisar rather than showing up as an impartial custodian of the house preferred to be a partisan . Since filing of the motion , Asad Qaisar is acting like a Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) worker.
Asad Qaisar’s behaviour as a speaker of the national assembly is being questioned by independent legal fraternity . Not only this, his explanation of constitutional provisions relating to the speakers’ powers have been under criticism at legal and social forums. So much so , the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) is terming Asad Qaisar,’s definitions of different constitutional provisions to run the house and his actions during upcoming voting on no confidence motion as devoid of law.
In the given situation , Asad Qaisar’s character is not only becoming controversial, but also ringing alarm bells at different forums .
The opposition sharply reacted to the speaker’s announcement of adjourning the house without tabling no confidence motion for debate . Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) president , Shahbaz Sharif cautioned the speaker of severe criticism if he showed the partisan behaviour on the issue of no confidence motion when the house reassembles on Monday.
“No body should ask us any more and there would be “Dama dum must qalander ” if speaker national assembly did not send his ways” angry Shahbaz declared while talking to media after adjournment of the session on Friday.
Pakistan People Party (PPP) chaian, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said ” Today the speaker proved himself as a personal servant to Imran Khan. He earned the speaker to give up his partisan behaviour .
