As Honorable Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif prepares to embark on a flight to Paris, shamelessly attempting to mingle with his affluent counterparts from developed countries, those who have prioritized serving their nations over themselves.
I would like to offer him a piece of advice. He should consider taking Maulana Asharafi along, as it would be a face-saving gesture. The Maulana possesses a robust physique, which would reassure other nations who lend us money that we are well-fed and not undernourished. Additionally, he could extend collective condolences for the victims of the migrant boat that tragically capsized off the Italian coast. These individuals chose to risk drowning rather than suffer a torturous, slow death at the hands of their own selfish and shameless leaders, who have caused the economic ship of our country to sink. Consequently, 22 million helpless citizens are rapidly descending into a sea of problems that these self-centered and cowardly leaders have created.
Furthermore, we have received shocking news regarding the disappearance of a submarine carrying Vice Chairman Shazada Dawood (Prince Dawood) of Engro and his son Suleman, en route to the wreckage of the Titanic. In a society where businessmen assume leadership roles, industrialists become explorers, clerics transform into soldiers, and educationalists venture into business, ordinary individuals are left without opportunities to survive. Thus, accidents of this nature become almost expected. Our hearts go out to Engro’s Management, a company that feeds the nation through the production of fertilizers and milk, as well as to their family, in light of this unfortunate incident. I can’t help but wonder why the duo felt the need to travel so far to photograph the wreckage of a Titanic that sank a century ago when they could have documented the ongoing sinking of our own Pakistani Titanic, a catastrophic situation driving thousands to abandon ship in order to survive.
In addition to these events, my thoughts are consumed by my son’s safe return from his farewell university trip to the Northern areas. He is a well-groomed young man from a warrior bloodline, having studied at Cadet College Hasan Abdal for a demanding five years. Despite societal pressures to pursue business studies, he aspires to join the entertainment industry, even if only as a hobby, seeking solace in an avenue that allows him to escape the accompanying psychological distress that arises when one is denied the role they were born and destined to succeed in.
My former colleagues, many of whom are on my list of family and friends, can attest to my humble contributions to society in the various roles I have served. Although I may not possess foreign qualifications or extensive training, my selfless commitment, honesty, and hard work enabled me to navigate through storms that others could not weather, despite the advantages that money and its associated privileges afford those who have them. My point is that when farmers become cooks and cooks become waiters, the entire food chain is compromised, leaving customers to pay the price of starvation before receiving sustenance for which they have already paid.
It is only natural for the rightful heirs to the Bhutto political legacy, be it Fatima Bhutto or her brother Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, to seek refuge in literature and art, relinquishing the political field to the Zardaris who skillfully propel the party’s political engine through widespread corruption and the bribery that secures their hold on power. This unfortunate political culture has tarnished our country’s international image, eroding the self-esteem of a proud nation that has been hijacked by dishonest individuals and thugs. Long Live Pakistan, as it rapidly sinks into its own sea of problems. 🇵🇰
