LAHORE ; In a symbolic session held at a local hotel here, the Punjab assembly elected Hamza Sharif as its chief executive . The opposition held the session at a local hotel, when the police on the direction of Pervez Elahi, the official candidate for Punjab’s top slot locked the assembly building to stop the opposition from electing the chief minister of Punjab . The opposition after facing unexpected development shifted the venue of the session to a local hotel. The symbolic session to elect new chief minister for the Punjab had virtual significance . It established that the opposition candidate , Hamza Shahbaz, enjoys support of 199 members of the Punjab assembly and the official party and its candidate , Chaudhary Pervez Elahi, had no chance to stand firm to context election against the opposition,’s candidate , Hamza Shahbaz. It also established that Tareen Group and Aleem Group stand with the opposition in the provincial assembly. Hamza Sharif’s show of power in Punjab assmbly has left no other option for Chaudhary Pervez Elahi to eat the dust for siding with Imran Khan for battle in Punjab. Chaudhary Pervez Elahi may propose Imran Khan some federal government type step to avoid humiliation . He can also suggest governor Raj in the province to avoid voting for chief minister office . But Pervez Elahi’s recipe for face saving in Punjab may .not work as Imran Khan and his legal wizards are facing hard time at Supreme Court of Pakistan for deputy speaker’s controversial ruling .
After the symbolic election and getting 199 votes , Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) vice president , Maryam Nawaz , and newly elected chief minister , Hamza Sharif, held a press conference .
Maryam Nawaz again claimed that Usman Buzdar was a dummy and real chief minister Punjab was front lady of Bani Gala, Farah Khan. She said the new government in Punjab will investigate the role of Farah Khan in Buzdar’s corruption . She asked the masses to get up to snatch their right from civil dictator Imran Khan.
Hamza Sharif vowed to serve Punjab as chief minister Punjab.
