Rawalpindi. (PR) Former candidate for the National Assembly and member executive of the Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi from Rawalpindi, Ms. Tahira Bano Mubarak Advocate, has said that the dream of a progressive society cannot be realized without empowering women.
”Providing equal opportunities to women in every walk of life is the need of the hour for the development of the country”. She expressed these views at a meeting held with Professor Dr. Farzana Zafar Medical Superintendent District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
AdvocateTahira Bano Mubarak said that the efforts made by the government of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for social justice, women’s empowerment and cultural development are commendable.
She said that the Chief Minister of Punjab is a role model for women. Member Executive High Court Bar Tahira Bano Mubarak said that the province of Punjab is truly an example for others.” Islam provides equal rights and respect to women and opposes all kinds of gender discrimination” she added.
She said that negative attitudes regarding women’s rights should be changed and all possible steps will be taken to give women their rightful place, empower them and protect their rights.
She said that the good initiative taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the promotion of women’s education, health, employment and betterment was commendable. She said that during the Pakistan Movement, Ms. Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Jahan Ara Shahnawaz and Begum Shaista Ikramullah paved the way for the freedom struggle.
